A unique FREE event is being hosted locally on Saturday, November 12, to mark the ongoing centenary of the First World War and remember the 324 veterans of the conflict who are buried in Commonwealth War Graves in Preston Cemetery.
Suitable for all ages, the event starts at noon with guided tours of the two main WW1 plots followed by a performance at 1pm by the acclaimed Lancashire folk and storytelling outfit Harp and a Monkey. The trio have been touring a WW1 show around the country for the past 18 months in partnership with Arts Council England and the Western Front Association. From 2pm there will then be another chance to tour the grave plots. There is no need to book in advance; simply turn up at the cemetery off New Hall Lane.
