The maps are fire Insurance maps from 1884 to 1924. Each map is clickable and can be zoomed in for a close up view of the site plan for the properties . Many of the larger parcels of land include the names of the occupiers.
If you know the address of one of your ancestors from that era, there is an index which will provide the plate number for each street. Go to the main map find the plate number for the street, click on the map, and click again for a close up view of the neighborhood.
