A vital part of Lancashire history commemorates a major milestone this month. The Lancashire Archives, in Preston, is 75 years old this year.
Celebrations will take place on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th April, including 1940s themed events such as vintage stalls, historical exhibits and vehicles. Another highlight will be the family history day on Sunday where a conservation team will be on hand to offer advice to visitors, who are encouraged to bring their own family tree documents and photos.
Celebrity family trees will also be investigated on the day, with research being conducted into some of Lancashire's famous faces, including Eric Morecambe, John Inman and Jeremiah Horrocks. The Lancashire Archives will also be displaying some of their most important records and offer 'behind the scenes' tours throughout the weekend to allow visitors a rare glimpse into the vital work of the Archive.
The weekend events will run from 11am to 4pm. More information can be found on the Lancashire Archives website. http://tinyurl.com/LA70years
